Something that I have noticed while making photographs or after completing a painting is that the final result will make its way into the world and participate in the phenomenon of being the subject of an observer's attention. The observer will take in the image and it will affect them. If the effect is significant and the observer has not chosen to discard or dismiss the image, then the thing that is occurring is resonance.
When we notice that art resonates with us, we still may not know why that is the case, but being aware of how some art affects us, weather in a discordant or harmonious way, opens up the possibility for insight into ourselves and our world.
